Iran’s Capability to Sink Aircraft Carriers from the Perspective of a Prominent Arab Brigadier General

According to Rokna, citing Al-Alam, Charles Abi Nader, a military affairs analyst and retired brigadier general of the Lebanese Army, recently examined Iran’s capabilities in countering and sinking U.S. aircraft carriers in an article published on the Al-Ahed website. This report was released simultaneously with indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States in Geneva.

Warning by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Its Meaning

He pointed out that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Imam Khamenei, had warned in his remarks that Iran is capable of sinking American aircraft carriers operating in the Persian Gulf region. The significance of these statements is not limited solely to referencing military threats but also reflects broader military and political components. Moreover, this warning includes weapons far more dangerous than the carriers themselves, capable of sending them to the depths of the sea.

Iran’s Weapons Against American Carriers

Charles Abi Nader continues in his report that American aircraft carriers, due to their high level of technical and military protection, are not easily targeted. The structure of these carriers is designed so that various sections, such as isolated compartments, are separated from one another and resistant to fire or attacks.

But why is this statement important? From a technical standpoint, Iran possesses advanced missiles with capabilities such as high speed, resistance to jamming, and precise guidance in the final phase. These missiles can independently or in combination with other systems pose a major threat to U.S. naval forces.

Assessment of Iran’s Capabilities in the Region

According to this expert, Iran, given its advanced missile and drone equipment, has been able to implement precise strategies in various waters such as the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and the Red Sea. These strategies also include the use of subsurface weapons, which are effective in confronting aircraft carriers and their accompanying destroyers.

Furthermore, the destroyers and supporting forces accompanying U.S. aircraft carriers have limited performance against Iran’s unconventional attacks and are unable to contain Iran in this regard.
