Claim by Israel’s Channel 15: U.S. Demands Concessions from Iran in Next Round of Talks
Rokna Political Desk: Israel’s Channel 15 has claimed that the United States has sent a message to Iran, demanding that Tehran offer concessions in the next round of negotiations.
According to Rokna, on the eve of Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington and amid continued media maneuvering by Israeli outlets regarding Iran–U.S. negotiations, Israel’s Channel 15 claimed that the U.S. administration, in a message to Iran, has called for the provision of concessions in the second round of talks.
The Israeli outlet alleged that the U.S. government emphasized in its message that it expects Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with his accompanying delegation, to attend the upcoming meeting with “serious and meaningful content.”
The network did not clarify the concept or nature of this “serious and meaningful content” and went on to quote U.S. officials as saying that Washington expects Tehran to offer concessions on various issues in the forthcoming round of negotiations.
This demand comes despite the fact that Seyed Abbas Araghchi had previously stressed that the sole agenda of the negotiations is the nuclear issue and that other matters are not subject to discussion.
He has also emphasized that zero-percent enrichment will never be acceptable to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The first round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States was held on Friday, 6 February, in the capital of Oman, and it was decided that the date of the next round would be announced following consultations in the respective capitals and in coordination with the Omani foreign minister.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to travel hastily to Washington on Wednesday. He had originally planned to make the trip at least two weeks later, but according to Israeli sources, he is eager to rush to Washington to impress his conditions upon U.S. officials regarding a potential agreement with Iran.
