Ghalibaf: Iran Is Ready to Negotiate with the United States If Talks Are Genuine
Rokna Political Desk: The Speaker of Iran’s Parliament says Tehran is ready to negotiate with the United States, but only if the talks are “genuine and real.”
According to Rokna, citing CNN, amid escalating tensions and rhetoric by US President Donald Trump against the region, along with threats directed at Tehran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, stated in an interview that Tehran is ready to negotiate with the United States, but only if the negotiations are “genuine and real.”
In an exclusive interview with CNN in Tehran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that although Tehran is prepared for negotiations, he does not believe this is “the kind of dialogue the President of the United States is seeking; he only wants to impose (his will on others).”
Ghalibaf’s interview comes amid an increase in US military forces in the Middle East and threats by Trump of possible military action against Iran, following unrest that, with the green light from Mossad, claimed the lives of many citizens.
Ghalibaf said foreign actors are responsible for “a plot that was entirely designed outside the country.”
While promising the swift prosecution of those involved, he warned that the government “will never retreat from avenging the blood” of nearly 300 security forces who were martyred during the unrest.
While Ghalibaf noted that “there are economic problems inside the country, some of which may be due to mismanagement within the country,” he attributed this situation to the unjust pressure of United States sanctions.
Regarding the increase of US forces in the region, Ghalibaf warned Washington that if Iran is attacked, the country will retaliate and put thousands of American troops at risk.
He said: “Mr. Trump may be able to start a war, but he has no control over how it will end.”
