US Senator Expresses Concern Over Iron Dome’s Ineffectiveness Against Iranian Ballistic Missiles

According to Rokna, Lindsey Graham, a senior US senator who has visited the occupied Palestinian territories multiple times this year, described Iran’s missile program as a “real threat” to Israel.

Graham, one of Israel’s staunchest supporters, is frequently listed among the top US politicians receiving financial support from the regime. In the Senate, he has repeatedly called for increased funding to rebuild Israel’s air defense system known as the Iron Dome. In an interview with the Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post, Graham warned that Iran’s growing missile capabilities could overwhelm and disable the Iron Dome.

The senator stated that after the 12-day war with Israel, Iran has undertaken renewed efforts to rebuild its ballistic missile arsenal. He emphasized that Iran’s ballistic missiles now pose a threat comparable to the country’s nuclear program for Israel.

He said, “Hamas and Iran are rebuilding themselves. Hezbollah in Lebanon is also trying to produce more weapons. We struck hard at them, but they are returning, and in terms of missiles, this is a real threat to Israel.”

He further asserted, “We cannot allow Iran to produce ballistic missiles because these missiles could saturate and render the Iron Dome defense system ineffective. This is a major threat.”

Concerns among US and Israeli officials regarding Iran’s missile capabilities have intensified since the 12-day war.

Al Jazeera recently reported, based on documented evidence, that Iran’s missile response to Israeli attacks during the 12-day war altered Israel’s initial assessments. During those clashes, Iran reportedly launched dozens of projectiles daily, totaling more than 500 ballistic missiles toward the occupied Palestinian territories.
