Netanyahu Holds Secret Meeting on Recognition of Palestine

Channel 12 of the Israeli regime reported that Netanyahu convened the confidential meeting without the participation of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to discuss reactions to the decision of countries recognizing the State of Palestine.

According to Rokna, citing Russia Today, Channel 12 stated on Sunday that Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, held an urgent and secret session without Ben Gvir and Smotrich to deliberate on responses to the recognition of Palestine by several countries.

The report noted that during this special meeting, Netanyahu emphasized the importance of full coordination with the Trump administration regarding steps taken by countries recognizing the State of Palestine.

Three countries—the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada—have announced that they officially recognize the State of Palestine.

In a joint statement issued by the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Australia, it was declared: “Australia recognizes the legitimate and longstanding aspirations of the Palestinian people to have an independent state. Today’s step of recognition reflects Australia’s longstanding commitment to the two-state solution, which has always been the only path to lasting peace and security.”

The Canadian Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) also stated: “For decades, Canada’s commitment to [the two-state solution] has been grounded in the expectation that this outcome would ultimately be achieved as part of a negotiated agreement.”

Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced: “Today we recognized the State of Palestine in order to keep alive the hope of peace.”
