Rokna Reports:
Destruction of Kor River Bank; Environmental Activists Issue Warning + Video
Rokna Social Desk: Environmental activists have issued a warning regarding the destruction of part of the Kor River bank. According to them, two excavators, operating without adherence to safety regulations and adequate oversight, have been clearing shrubs and branches along the river — an action that could damage the river’s natural bed and pose flood-related risks to nearby agricultural lands and residential areas.
According to Rokna’s social affairs correspondent, environmental activists have reported the destruction of a section of the Kor River bank. Based on the information received, on Friday, November 14, 2025, two excavators were operating in the area between Tirkan Dam and Feyzabad Dam. According to these activists, the operations carried out did not comply with safety protocols or standard river-desilting procedures and appeared to have been conducted without full supervision.
Field observations by local environmental activists indicate that the primary purpose of these activities was the collection and stockpiling of wood. Environmental experts have warned that direct interference with the riverbank could weaken the natural structure of the riverbed and, in the event of winter flooding, divert the water flow toward agricultural fields and nearby settlements.
Farmers and local residents have expressed concern over the situation, believing that the removal of vegetation and destruction of the riverbank may threaten their livelihoods and render the water flow uncontrollable during periods of heavy rainfall.
Environmental activists, while issuing warnings to natural resources and environmental authorities, have called for immediate action to prevent potential economic and environmental consequences.
