In a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Friday night, the Afghan minister of foreign affairs expressed satisfaction with the growing ties between Kabul and Tehran.
He also praised Iran’s influential role in the process of peace in Afghanistan.
For his part, Zarif stressed the need to safeguard the democratic achievements of Afghanistan gained over the past two decades and to connect them with sustainable peace.
He also reaffirmed Iran’s full support for the Afghan peace process.
The two senior diplomats also emphasized the necessity of accelerating efforts to finalize and sign a comprehensive document on strategic cooperation between the two neighbors.
