Europe Struggles to Prevent Future Actions by Vladimir Putin

While European leaders are scheduled to meet today to seek a solution to end the war in Ukraine, reports indicate that Russian attacks are escalating across multiple regions of the country, raising European leaders’ concerns about Russia potentially targeting other parts of Europe.

According to Rokna, international news outlets have reported that Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to meet with European leaders on Monday.

European Leaders’ Concerns Over Potential Putin Attacks

Meanwhile, the BBC World Service, in a report titled “Zelensky to Travel to Downing Street for High-Level Talks,” wrote that Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, is set to meet key European leaders in London on Monday. The purpose of this meeting is for Ukraine’s European allies to respond to ongoing U.S. pressures on Kyiv to make concessions during peace negotiations.

The BBC World Service further reported that the leaders of France and Germany will join Zelensky in talks with Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, at 10 Downing Street (the British Prime Minister’s Office), aiming to ensure that any agreement prevents future Russian aggression.

According to the report, these high-level talks follow three days of negotiations in Florida, United States, where Zelensky’s chief negotiator sought changes to the White House plan — a plan that had been prepared largely in line with Kremlin demands.

Trump: Zelensky Has Not Even Reviewed the Peace Plan

On the other side of the issue is the United States, which, aligning in recent days with Kremlin preferences, has increased pressure on Ukraine, with the U.S. President occasionally criticizing Zelensky. Most recently, international media, including the British news outlet The Independent, reported that Donald Trump expressed frustration, claiming that Zelensky had not even reviewed the U.S. peace plan for Ukraine.

According to the report, Donald Trump, President of the United States, stated on Sunday local time in a conversation with reporters at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., that both Moscow and the Ukrainian people support the peace plan; however, the Ukrainian President is obstructing the progress of negotiations.

Trump said: “I spoke with President Putin and Ukrainian leaders, including President Zelensky, and I must say I am somewhat disappointed because Zelensky has not even read the draft [of this plan].”

Increase in Russian Missile and Drone Attacks Amid Peace Talks

Meanwhile, as peace negotiations continue, international media outlets, including Sky News, Al Jazeera, and ABC News, have reported increased Russian attacks on Ukraine.

Sky News reported on Sunday that Russia conducted a large-scale overnight missile and drone attack on Ukraine on Saturday. According to the network, Russia launched 653 drones and 51 missiles in the attack, triggering air raid sirens across the country.

Al Jazeera also reported that Russia has carried out a massive wave of attacks on Ukraine while peace negotiations continue, stating that Russia fired 704 drones and missiles at Ukraine, targeting power stations and other energy infrastructure in the country.
