Germany Calls on Iran: Return to Negotiations with a Change in Approach
Rokna Political Desk: Germany’s representative at the United Nations, emphasizing the need for a change in Iran’s approach, has called on the country to return to negotiations, stating that diplomacy is still ongoing.
Rikelf Boyten, Germany’s UN representative, spoke regarding the activation of the “snapback” mechanism by European countries against Iran and the continuation of talks with Tehran. He said: “We have been in contact with the Iranians for years. Over these years, we have not witnessed sufficient action on Iran’s part, and Iran has violated all its commitments.”
According to Rokna, citing Al Arabiya, he added: “That is why, after repeated warnings, we activated the snapback mechanism. But this is not the end of diplomacy. For this reason, we are ready to engage in dialogue with Iran.”
He further stated: “We welcome negotiations. The Iranians must change their position. This is something on which there is no disagreement. UN member states must take the necessary measures to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons and provide explanations regarding their nuclear program and nuclear materials.”
