Foreign Ministry Spokesperson: Araghchi to Discuss Mahdieh Esfandiari’s Situation in Paris

According to Rokna, citing the Government Information Portal, Esmail Baghai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced the upcoming trip of Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Paris this week. He stated that after attending the annual conference of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the Netherlands, the Foreign Minister will travel to Paris upon the invitation of his French counterpart.

Araghchi is scheduled to participate in the OPCW conference today, Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson further noted that during Araghchi’s trip to Paris, bilateral topics will be discussed, including the situation of Iranian national Mahdieh Esfandiari, as well as regional and international developments.

Mahdieh Esfandiari, an Iranian national, was detained in France on March 1, 2025, on charges of supporting Palestine and was recently released on conditional terms.

The spokesperson also emphasized the principled approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran in its interactions with other countries based on mutual respect and the use of every opportunity to clearly present Iran’s positions and demands on issues such as the ongoing crimes of the Zionist regime in Palestine and Lebanon, the nuclear issue, and other major international matters. He added that during this visit and in talks with the French side, Araghchi will explain Iran’s positions and raise the legitimate demands of the Iranian nation.

Previously, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Araghchi’s visit to Paris and his meeting and talks with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Araghchi, who traveled to Oman to participate in the Muscat Forum, will go to The Hague today, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, to attend the annual OPCW conference, and from there proceed to Paris.
