Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Announces:
Araghchi to Travel to The Hague After Muscat / Ministry Plans Diplomatic Trips to Asia, Africa, and Europe
Rokna Political Desk: The Foreign Ministry spokesperson, referring to the Foreign Minister’s visits to Oman and The Hague to participate in the Muscat Forum and the Annual Conference of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), elaborated on the diplomatic activities of the ministry and announced plans for further diplomatic trips to Asia, Africa, and Europe.
According to Rokna, Esmaeil Baghai told the reporter of the Government Information Portal that the diplomatic activities of the Foreign Ministry are not carried out solely by the Minister. He stated: “Many diplomatic visits and activities are conducted at the level of deputy ministers and directors general, which is part of our professional work.”
He added: “Diplomatic activities are carried out based on programs included in our agenda. These are conducted in line with international events and according to the needs that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs identifies to advance the national interests of the country.”
Referring to the Foreign Minister’s trip to Oman to participate in the Muscat Forum, the spokesperson explained: “This forum is a dialogue-based meeting with the participation of a significant number of officials from the region and beyond. During this visit, we will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Omani Foreign Minister.”
Baghai stated that after attending the Muscat Forum, the Foreign Minister will travel to The Hague to participate in the Annual Conference of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. He noted: “This conference is important for us as the largest victim of chemical weapons in the twentieth century.”
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson further added: “Planning is underway for possibly two to three additional trips to Europe, and updates will be provided once they are confirmed.”
Regarding the diplomatic activities of the Foreign Ministry’s deputies, he said: “At the level of deputies, Mr. Takht-Ravanchi, Political Deputy of the Foreign Ministry, traveled to Tajikistan to participate in the third round of official consultations between Iran and Tajikistan. Last week, he visited Qatar and Pakistan as part of periodic political consultations with these two countries. In addition, our Deputy for Economic Diplomacy has been actively following up on matters; he recently traveled to the UAE and, prior to that, to China for economic diplomacy purposes.”
Baghai added: “Mr. Gharibabadi, Deputy for Legal and International Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, visited Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia in the past two weeks. At the level of directors general, our relations and interactions with various countries continue. In the next two to three weeks, we will continue consultations and contacts with the region, including the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Africa, and there will likely be further visits in these two areas as well.”
