Details of Crown Prince bin Salman’s Visit to the United States
Rokna Political Desk: Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, has traveled to Washington to meet with Donald Trump to discuss multi-billion-dollar arms and trade deals between Riyadh and the United States.
The Saudi crown prince departed Riyadh for Washington on Monday night, with a scheduled meeting with Trump on Tuesday. The meeting is expected to finalize commercial and military agreements that were previously discussed during bin Salman’s visit to Riyadh.
According to Fararu, on Sunday night, Trump addressed reporters regarding the potential sale of F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia.
Trump: We Will Sell F-35 Fighter Jets to Saudi Arabia
Western and American media, including the Associated Press, reported that U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Monday that despite concerns within his administration that selling F-35 jets to Saudi Arabia could give China access to U.S. technology, he intends to proceed with the sale.
When asked by reporters whether he would sell such jets to Saudi Arabia, Trump responded: “I say that we will do it; we will sell the F-35s.”
Details of bin Salman’s Visit
Simultaneously with Trump’s remarks, Saudi media reported on the crown prince’s official visit to the United States at the invitation of the president. The Saudi news network Al Arabiya wrote that the crown prince officially began his visit to the U.S. following Trump’s invitation.
According to Al Arabiya, bin Salman is scheduled to meet with President Trump at the White House on Tuesday local time. The visit will include a morning reception, meetings in the Oval Office, followed by a formal dinner.
The network also reported that on Wednesday, the Saudi-American Business Council will convene with the participation of the Saudi crown prince and the U.S. president. Days before the visit, Trump described the trip as “more than a meeting” and called it an honor for Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Multi-Billion Dollar Investment in the U.S.
In this context, the Associated Press cited a senior Trump administration official stating that Saudi Arabia is expected to announce multi-billion-dollar investments in U.S. artificial intelligence infrastructure, while both countries are expected to outline new cooperation in the peaceful nuclear energy sector.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Trump plans to “roll out the red carpet” for the Saudi crown prince and hopes to operationalize the $600 billion investment commitment that Saudi Arabia had promised during Trump’s May visit.
