Venezuela on High Alert as US Threats Against Caracas Escalate
Rokna Political Desk: The Washington Post reported that Venezuela’s armed forces have been placed on high alert following the entry of a US aircraft carrier into the Caribbean Sea and the increasing likelihood of a US military operation against Caracas.
An American newspaper, noting the arrival of the USS Gerald R. Ford in Caribbean waters, stated that Venezuela has mobilized all of its armed forces to a state of readiness.
According to Rokna, citing the Washington Post, the increased US military presence near Venezuela’s borders is viewed as a sign of a rising possibility of expanded US military operations in the Caribbean, suggesting that Washington may target Venezuelan military bases and airports.
Although US officials have stated that the purpose of the military buildup in the Caribbean is to combat drug trafficking, Latin American leaders—including Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro—have called for all countries in the region to be prepared to respond to any potential US adventurism.
