Mahmoud Abbas: Hamas Must Hand Over Its Weapons + Video
Rokna Political Desk: Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, has called for Hamas and other groups to surrender their weapons, stressing that Gaza must be governed without the military involvement of these factions in order to preserve the unity and integrity of the Palestinian state.

On Monday, Abbas stated that Hamas should have no role in the future administration of Gaza and urged the group, which is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, to hand over its arms.
According to Rokna, in a video address to a United Nations meeting on the two-state solution—during which France announced its recognition of the State of Palestine—Abbas declared: “Hamas and other groups must hand their weapons over to the Palestinian Authority.”
He added: “What we want is one united state without weapons; a state with one law and a legitimate security force.”
Abbas also reaffirmed his commitment to holding presidential and parliamentary elections after the end of the war.
Furthermore, he called on more countries to recognize the State of Palestine.
“We appreciate the positions of those countries that have recognized the State of Palestine, and we urge those that have not yet done so to take this step. We seek your support for Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations,” Abbas said.
