Seyed Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, arrived in New York early today (Monday, 22 September) local time to take part in the 80th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters.

According to Rokna, during this trip, the Foreign Minister will participate in the General Assembly’s sessions and agenda discussions, presenting Iran’s positions and viewpoints. He will also hold separate meetings with his counterparts from other countries and meet with media representatives.

Araqchi will accompany President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is scheduled to arrive in New York tomorrow (Tuesday), at the annual General Assembly session.

The President is expected to deliver his speech at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday morning local time (Wednesday evening Tehran time).

On 16 September, speaking to reporters about the Iranian delegation’s participation in the UN General Assembly, Seyed Abbas Araqchi stated: “We have always maintained a very strong presence at the United Nations, primarily to use this international platform to convey the voice of the Iranian people to the global community, defend their rights, and explain the Islamic Republic of Iran’s positions regarding the region and the international system. This year, arrangements have been made for both the President and myself to participate.”
