US Awaits Arrival of “Gerald R. Ford” to Prepare for Potential Strike on Iran

According to Rokna, reports of increased US military movements in the Middle East have emerged as informed sources point to preparations for possible military options against Iran.

The Washington Post, citing informed officials, reported that the US Navy strike group in the Middle East is awaiting the arrival of the aircraft carrier “USS Gerald R. Ford” and its accompanying vessels in order to be prepared for potential operations against Iran, if necessary.

According to the newspaper, the deployment of the US aircraft carrier strike group in the region was extended last week, and the ships were positioned on Thursday along the Strait of Gibraltar, a route that enables faster access to the region.

In this context, it has been reported that the United States has dispatched approximately 70 military transport aircraft and nearly 50 fighter jets to the Middle East in recent days. Additionally, one offensive aircraft carrier strike group has already been deployed in the region, and a second group is scheduled to be stationed near Israel in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Wall Street Journal had previously reported that Donald Trump is considering carrying out an initial and limited strike against Iran with the aim of compelling Tehran to reach an agreement. According to the newspaper, the potential scenario could target military centers and certain government facilities, and in the event that Iran continues uranium enrichment, the option of broader strikes would be raised.

Trump told reporters that he would decide on military action within a period of 10 to 15 days, emphasizing: “Either we reach an agreement, or it will be unfortunate for them.”

Meanwhile, two rounds of negotiations between Tehran and Washington regarding Iran’s nuclear program were held in Muscat and Geneva in early February; talks that took place amid an increased US military presence in the region.

In response, Iranian officials have warned that any attack on the country could lead to the outbreak of a widespread regional conflict, a development that has heightened concerns over escalating tensions between the two countries.
