Aoun to the Pope: The World Must Hear Our Message of Resistance
Rokna Political Desk: The President of Lebanon emphasized during his meeting with Pope Leo IV that the world must hear Lebanon’s message of resistance and that the future of the region must be built on partnership, pluralism, and mutual respect.
Addressing the Pope during his meeting with the leader of the world’s Catholics, the President of Lebanon said: “Tell the world that we will not die and we will not surrender.”
According to Rokna, Joseph Aoun, the President of Lebanon, who today hosted Pope Leo IV, the leader of the world’s Catholics, at the Baabda Palace, stated that if Christians and Muslims fall in Lebanon, the equation of homeland and justice will collapse.
Aoun added: If Lebanon becomes paralyzed or transformed, what will replace it will be fractures across the region and the world. The future of the East can only be built on partnership, pluralism, and mutual respect.
The Lebanese President continued, addressing the Pope: Tell the world that we will not die and we will not surrender.
Pope Leo XIV also addressed the Lebanese people, saying: You are a people who do not surrender; you are a people who, in the face of difficulties, stand firm and know how to be reborn.
The Pope added: Without a vision of a future in which good triumphs over evil, there will be no lasting reconciliation. Peace can grow only in an environment rooted in historical and geographical bonds.
