Trump Claims Iran Is Seeking Negotiations with the United States
Rokna Political Desk: Donald Trump claimed that Iran seeks to negotiate with the United States, asserting that “everyone now wants an agreement with Washington.” He also referenced U.S. military capabilities, including what he described as the destruction of Iran’s nuclear capacity.
According to Rokna, when Donald Trump, the U.S. president, was asked about possible U.S. plans to sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, he told reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday: “They wanted to buy a lot of jets. We make the best jets; we make the best missiles. You saw that we destroyed Iran’s nuclear capability.”
In his latest remarks concerning the U.S. and Israeli attack in June on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Trump said: “For 22 years they wanted to do this — no president had the courage to do it. We did it, and Iran is in a different position. By the way, Iran also wants to negotiate for an agreement; everyone now wants to negotiate with us.”
“The Best Way” to Control Weapons
Donald Trump also stated that nuclear disarmament is the best solution in the field of arms control.
Aboard Air Force One en route to Florida, Trump told reporters: “Russia is power number two and China is power number three. They are catching up to us. They are currently a bit behind us, but in four or five years they will reach us. I think the best thing is for us to pursue nuclear disarmament.”
He said he would like to hold a meeting with Russia and China to discuss nuclear disarmament.
Trump said: “What I would like to do is move toward nuclear disarmament — in other words, to have a meeting among the top three countries to reduce nuclear weapons.”
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced that Russia is prepared to adhere to the limits of the New START Treaty for one year after 5 February 2026. He explained that if the United States takes reciprocal action, steps will be taken to comply with the New START limits. According to several media reports, Donald Trump described Putin’s proposal on New START as a good idea.
Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, also said in an interview with RIA Novosti in early November that little time remains to preserve one of the key pillars of global stability — the New START Treaty, also known as the Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms — and added that Russia is awaiting Washington’s response to the proposal to extend New START.
The United States Will Conduct Nuclear Tests
The U.S. president also told reporters: “We will conduct nuclear testing because others are testing. Other countries are testing. We have more nuclear weapons than any other country. I am the one who modernized them and built some of them, and I hated doing it, but I had no choice because they had nuclear weapons.”
On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump’s pledge to resume nuclear testing was intended to ensure the safety of the weapons.
On Friday, Trump told reporters on his way to Florida: “We will conduct nuclear testing just like other countries. We have more nuclear weapons than any country, and we need to test.”
Last week, Trump said he had ordered the U.S. Department of Defense to immediately resume nuclear tests. He later clarified that his order was due to “others conducting testing” and that it was “appropriate” for the United States to continue the practice.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that U.S. nuclear testing, if carried out, would mark the end of the long-standing ban on nuclear tests. He added: “Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that if other countries conduct nuclear testing, Russia will act accordingly.”
Claim of “Significant Progress” Regarding Venezuela
Trump also claimed before reporters that “significant progress” had been made with Venezuela in stopping the flow of narcotics. The U.S. president added that he had made a decision regarding Venezuela but refrained from disclosing it.
While traveling aboard Air Force One toward Florida, Trump told reporters that he had made his decision on Venezuela but added: “I cannot tell you what it will be.”
The U.S. president claimed that U.S. efforts to combat drug trafficking from Latin America were yielding results. He said: “The entry of drugs into our country has decreased sharply.”
A Five-Billion-Dollar Lawsuit Against the BBC
The U.S. president announced Friday that, following a BBC apology for what it called a misleadingly edited version of one of his speeches, he would sue the network for damages ranging from one to five billion dollars.
Trump told reporters: “We intend to sue them for damages between one and five billion dollars, probably next week. I think we must do this. Even they admitted they cheated.”
Trump’s lawyers had initially set a Friday deadline for the BBC to correct its documentary or face a lawsuit seeking at least one billion dollars in damages. They also demanded an apology from the BBC and compensation to Trump for what they described as “significant damage to his reputation and finances.”
The BBC issued its personal apology to Trump on Thursday, acknowledging that the editing of his remarks had been a “misjudgment,” but added that there is no legal basis for a lawsuit. The director-general of the BBC and the head of the network’s news division resigned Sunday in the wake of the controversy.
“The Ukraine War Should Never Have Started”
Trump also claimed in an interview that he had ended eight wars, but still needed to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Without referring to his country’s aggressive attacks on Iran in June and additional operations in the Caribbean that have escalated tensions, Trump told GB News: “But I’ve done this eight times. The only one I haven’t done yet is Russia and Ukraine. This war should never have started.”
