Turkey Issues Arrest Warrant for Netanyahu and Several Israeli Officials on Charges of Genocide

According to Rokna, citing RT, the statement from the Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office declared: “Arrest warrants have been issued for 37 suspects, including Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, and Israel Katz, the Minister of Defense, on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.”

The Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that “Israeli officials are accused of committing genocide, carrying out large-scale bombings of the Gaza Strip, and obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid.”

Earlier, on November 21, 2024, the First Chamber of the International Criminal Court had issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, the former Israeli Defense Minister, on charges of “war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

According to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, the Appeals Chamber of The Hague had previously rejected Israel’s request for reconsideration and confirmed the arrest warrants for Gallant and Netanyahu.

The charges against Netanyahu and Gallant include “using starvation as a method of warfare,” “murder and persecution,” and “inhumane acts.”

This means that Netanyahu and Gallant can no longer travel to any of the 120 countries that are signatories to the Rome Statute, the treaty under which the International Criminal Court issues its rulings.

These warrants were issued after Karim Khan, the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, requested in mid-September that arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant be issued as soon as possible. At that time, Khan explained that he had been pressured by some world leaders not to proceed with the issuance of these warrants.
