Netanyahu’s Actions Prompt Luxembourg’s Decision on Recognizing Palestine
Rokna Political Desk: The Prime Minister of Luxembourg, in an interview with CNN, criticized the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declaring that his country recognizes Palestine as an independent state due to Netanyahu’s violations of international order, while also emphasizing the importance of guaranteeing Israel’s security in the process.

Luxembourg’s Prime Minister, Luc Frieden, described the conduct of Netanyahu as contrary to international order and said his country recognizes the independent State of Palestine because of Netanyahu’s actions.
According to Rokna, citing Anadolu, Frieden stated on Monday: “We are not making this decision against Israel, but because of Netanyahu’s actions we are taking such a step.”
He added that Netanyahu’s actions were “in violation of an international order based on law,” which Luxembourg opposes.
Speaking to CNN, Frieden stressed that Palestinians need hope for their future, while at the same time Israel’s security must also be guaranteed.
He affirmed: “The new effort to establish a Palestinian state may lead to a peaceful Israel and a peaceful Palestine living side by side.”
Frieden also warned that if a ceasefire is not implemented in the Gaza Strip and humanitarian aid deliveries are blocked, Europe may impose sanctions against Israel.
On Sunday, Australia, Canada, Portugal, and the United Kingdom recognized the State of Palestine, while France, Malta, Luxembourg, and several other countries are scheduled to do so on Monday.
Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas leader, welcomed the recognition of Palestine, stressing that the acknowledgment of Palestinian statehood by some Western countries is a significant symbolic step in the right direction, but is not sufficient on its own, as a genuine step requires practical support and actions on the ground.
He added that this recognition came after the heavy price paid by the Palestinian people with blood and martyrs, noting that the world is still uncovering the truth about this criminal occupation and the ongoing aggression since 1948.
