Syrian Embassy Reopens in Washington After 11-Year Closure
Rokna Political Desk: After an 11-year hiatus, the Syrian Embassy in Washington, D.C., has officially reopened, marking a significant step amid ongoing negotiations on sanctions and security agreements.

n Friday, the Syrian flag was once again raised above the embassy building in the U.S. capital, signaling the restoration of diplomatic operations. This development coincides with the historic visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Sheebani to the United States, the first visit by a Syrian foreign minister to Washington in 25 years.
During his visit, Al-Sheebani is expected to discuss the lifting of remaining sanctions on Syria as well as ongoing security agreements under negotiation with Israel.
CBS reported that preparations are underway for a potential meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharrah during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly sessions.
According to Syrian diplomatic sources, President Al-Sharrah will attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, becoming the first Syrian head of state to address the organization since Nur al-Din al-Atassi in 1967.
