Macron Announces: Snapback Against Iran Will Be Activated
Rokna Political Desk – French President Emmanuel Macron has asserted that the snapback mechanism against Iran will be activated by the end of September.

According to Rokna, citing Axios, reported that on Thursday, Macron stated the snapback sanctions against Iran will be implemented by the end of September.
In the report, Macron’s remarks during an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 indicate that efforts to reach an agreement between European powers and Iran have failed. Iran is expected to face significantly greater economic damage, and international observers will effectively have no oversight over Iran’s nuclear materials and facilities.
The United Nations Security Council is anticipated to vote next week on the reinstatement of UN sanctions against Iran, which could be reimposed by September 27.
Iran has threatened that, in response, it may withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). However, European diplomats believe that Iran is unlikely to take such a step.
The snapback mechanism automatically reinstates all UN Security Council sanctions previously lifted under the 2015 nuclear agreement.
Iran argues that it has never fully benefited from the JCPOA, from which the United States withdrew in 2018, and therefore the imposition of penalties for alleged non-compliance is not legitimate.
Iranian officials have also responded dismissively to requests to return to nuclear negotiations with the Trump administration, noting that they would have pursued such talks even before Israel and the United States carried out attacks against Iran.
When Yonit Levi of Israel’s Channel 12 asked Macron whether the snapback was certain, he replied, “Yes, I believe so, because the latest information we have from the Iranians is not serious.”
Macron further stated that Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, “attempted to present a reasonable proposal” to reach an agreement with European powers, but did not receive support from other members of the Iranian government.
