Zelensky: Trump Must Not Fear Pressuring Putin

The Ukrainian president, criticizing his American counterpart, stated that “Donald Trump” should not be afraid of pressuring the Russian president.

According to Rokna, U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to mediate peace between Russia and Ukraine have remained unsuccessful since his August summit in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin, followed the next day by his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and several other European leaders.

According to NBC News, the President of Ukraine, in a statement on the American president’s approach, said: “U.S. sanctions do not inflict significant damage on Russia, and President Trump must act in a way that makes Putin fear him.”

Zelensky added: “Trump must be braver in making independent decisions regarding support for Ukraine. He also refrains from pressuring Russia because he fears this could endanger the peace agreement, but there is no reason to be afraid of this.”

The Ukrainian president further emphasized: “To achieve peace, we need a document supported by the United States and all European partners. For this purpose, a clear position from Trump is essential.”

He went on to claim that Putin, by traveling to Alaska, had “found a way out of isolation,” whereas “he should have been defeated.”

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Tuesday that Trump and Zelensky will “likely” meet next week in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

During his trip to West Asia, he remarked: “Trump is doing everything possible to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.”

Donald Trump has repeatedly blamed the presidents of Russia and Ukraine for their refusal to negotiate.
