Israeli Media: Assassination Attempt on Yemeni Army Chief of Staff Failed

Israeli media outlets on Sunday also reported that Tel Aviv, in response to the continuation of missile attacks from Yemen, is considering a military response. According to informed sources, the occupying army and the Mossad intelligence organization are preparing a target bank focused on key centers affiliated with Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement.

This is not the first time that Israeli media have reported on attempts to assassinate the Chief of Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces.

Earlier, during the 12-day war between Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Israeli Air Force had also attempted to assassinate Major General al-Ghamari.

In June 2025, Israeli media claimed that the Yemeni Armed Forces Chief of Staff was targeted and injured in an airstrike, but Yemeni sources denied this claim and declared that he had survived the assassination attempt.

Since 2016, he has been serving as Chief of Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces and has played a central role in designing and executing Ansar Allah’s military operations.

Israel’s renewed claims about attempting to assassinate al-Ghamari come as, last Friday, the country faced one of the most complex and surprising operations by Yemeni armed forces in recent years. Despite activating the “Iron Dome,” “David’s Sling,” “Arrow,” and “THAAD” systems to intercept Yemen’s “Falasteen 2” missile, Israel was unable to track and destroy it.
