Before Departure to Armenia:
We Will Discuss Expanding East-West Trade Route +Video
Rokna Political Desk: The President stated that Iran has a longstanding and strategic relationship with the friendly and neighboring country of Armenia, and the two countries have sought to maintain good communications in political, economic, cultural, and social fields.

According to Rokna, citing the government’s official news portal, Masoud Pezeshkian, on the afternoon of 27 Mordad (August 18), prior to leaving Tehran for Armenia and Belarus, said: “This trip follows previous visits that we have prioritized with neighboring countries. According to general policies and the guidance of the Supreme Leader, our neighbors are a priority.”
He continued: “We have a longstanding and strategic relationship with friendly neighbor Armenia, and both countries have endeavored to maintain good communications in political, economic, cultural, and social areas. The two countries have established and signed agreements and facilities wherever possible, and have concluded numerous agreements. The aim of this visit is to expand economic and cultural relations, which can help accelerate previous initiatives.”
The President stated: “During this trip, we will discuss the North-South corridor and East-West routes to expand trade flows from east to west.”
He also noted that there are concerns regarding the presence of American companies in the region, warning that “there is a concern that they may enter the region under the guise of legitimate companies but pursue other activities. Experience has shown this to be true. We will hold discussions regarding these concerns.”
The President added that in the fields of engineering, construction, mining, arts, social affairs, and tourism, very strong documents have been prepared and are scheduled to be signed. By signing these documents, bilateral relations will increase, especially as Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Union, in which Iran has also participated.
Regarding the trip to Belarus, Pezeshkian said: “After Armenia, we will travel to Belarus. In recent years, the two countries have had positive cooperation in cultural, economic, scientific, and social fields, and this trend will expand in technology transfer, agriculture, industry, and mining. Belarus has consistently defended Iran’s positions in most international forums. They have strongly condemned Israeli attacks on Iran and taken firm stances against aggression in Gaza. We can expand relations in many areas and remove restrictions imposed on our country. During this trip, agreements will be signed that will benefit our nation.”
