Velayati’s Reaction to the Lebanese Government’s Decision to Disarm Hezbollah

Following the recent illness of Nouri al-Maliki, former Prime Minister of Iraq, Ali Akbar Velayati contacted him by phone to inquire about his health.

During the call, Ali Akbar Velayati wished Maliki a full recovery and expressed appreciation for his effective role in supporting the Resistance Front.

Nouri al-Maliki, in turn, expressed gratitude for Velayati’s concern and emphasized the importance of communication and coordination among the leaders of the Resistance Front.

The telephone conversation continued with an exchange of views on recent regional developments, particularly the new conspiracies by the Zionist regime and the United States against the Islamic Resistance.

Referring to the recent moves by the United States and Zionists aimed at weakening the Resistance Front, Velayati stated: “God willing, with your help and the support of all pillars of the Resistance Front, we will stand firm against America and the Zionist regime and will not allow their malicious objectives to be realized.”

Nouri al-Maliki also warned about the sensitive situation in the region, stating: “Today, we see that they intend to disarm Hezbollah in Lebanon, and undoubtedly, next in line will be Iraq, the Popular Mobilization Forces, and other groups. We will under no circumstances allow such plans to be executed and will stand against them in cooperation with the Resistance Front.”

During the call, both sides emphasized that the disarmament of Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq is part of an American-Zionist plan to weaken the Resistance Front, and that the peoples of the region must not permit this dangerous project to be carried out.
