On Friday, December 19, 2025, a child displayed extraordinary courage by rescuing at least 60 residents of Mehrgi village in Sirik County who had been trapped amid severe flooding.
According to a video that has been widely shared among users, Elhiyar Barani, a child from the village of Mehrgi, single-handedly put a boat into operation after water levels suddenly rose and residents became stranded, transferring people away from high-risk areas.
Elhiyar calmly explains how the rescue operation unfolded, stating that after witnessing his fellow villagers trapped by the flood, he decided to take immediate action without waiting for assistance from emergency organizations.
Residents of Mehrgi village emphasized that had it not been for the swift and courageous action of this child, the likelihood of a major human tragedy and the deaths of dozens of people would have been extremely high.
