Funeral Ceremony for Bahman Rajabi Announced

According to Rokna, the funeral procession for Bahman Rajabi, a distinguished musician and educator, will commence at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Tehran Artists’ House, and his body will be laid to rest at Behesht Zahra Cemetery.

Bahman Rajabi dedicated many years to the field of music, making significant contributions to the development and promotion of tombak and Iranian music through his educational and research works. His contributions in performance and pedagogy, particularly his innovative pieces and intricate techniques, remain influential and enduring.

Born in 1939 in Rasht, Rajabi began his professional career in 1971, performing solo and duo tombak recitals and collaborating with melodic instruments. In addition to his performance career, he was a writer and researcher of Iranian music, publishing four instructional and scholarly books. Among his notable works are the renowned piece “Dialogue of Left and Right” and “Multiple Innovations in Tombak Techniques.” His last performance took place in 2005 with the Ensemble of Nations under the direction of Peyman Soltani.
