Funeral of Master Farshchian in Isfahan: Ceremony Details for Monday

According to Rokna, Seyed Mehdi Seyedinia, Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Isfahan Province, announced a significant event for the city. He stated that on Monday, 27 Mordad, Isfahan will witness the funeral of the greatest contemporary miniature artist, Master Mahmoud Farshchian. The distinguished artist’s body will be interred beside the tomb of the great poet Saeb Tabrizi, thus bringing art and literature together in a historic union.

Funeral Procession of Master Farshchian

Seyedinia explained that the funeral procession for Master Farshchian will begin at the Isfahan School of Fine Arts, the very place where the master took his first steps in the artistic world. Following the procession, his body will be laid to rest beside the tomb of Saeb Tabrizi, making the site the final resting place of two unparalleled figures in Iranian art and literature.

Presence of the Minister of Culture

He also announced that Seyed Abbas Salehi, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, along with a group of officials from the ministry, will attend the reception and farewell ceremony for Master Farshchian in Isfahan. The presence of high-ranking officials underscores the significance and esteemed position of this great artist in Iranian culture and arts.

Master Farshchian’s Final Will

Earlier, the plenipotentiary representative of Master Mahmoud Farshchian had disclosed his will to be buried beside the tomb of Saeb Tabrizi. Sajad Mohammadyarzadeh, elaborating on this will, noted that Master Farshchian wished that, after the funeral at the Isfahan School of Fine Arts, the place where his artistic life began, he would be laid to rest beside the tomb of Saeb Tabrizi, the great poet of the Isfahani style.

Transfer of the Body to Iran

He further stated that Master Farshchian had long expressed the wish to be buried in his “homeland,” but in recent discussions, his desire to be interred beside Saeb Tabrizi emerged. Arrangements have been made to transfer the body from the United States to Dubai and then to Isfahan. Ceremonies will also be held in Isfahan and Tehran, with details to be announced soon.

History of Master Farshchian’s Work

Master Mahmoud Farshchian was born in 1929 in Isfahan. He was one of the most prominent Iranian miniature painters, creating a unique artistic style and school that brought a remarkable transformation to Iranian painting. His works have been exhibited in numerous domestic and international exhibitions and have received widespread acclaim.

Passing in the United States

This renowned artist passed away on 18 Mordad [August 9], at the age of 95, in the United States due to pneumonia. Now, his body will be laid to rest in his birthplace, Isfahan, to ensure that his memory and legacy remain eternal.
