According to Rokna, Shahram Dabiri, former Parliamentary Deputy to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, offered intriguing details and clarifications regarding the controversies and unique aspects of his daring trip to Antarctica.
Shahram Dabiri’s Account of the Hardships of Traveling to Antarctica
Dabiri stated: “While I was on this trip, I was unable to respond directly, and certain individuals in the government made statements based on their own assumptions. This trip had been planned approximately ten months prior to the beginning of my service in the government, and contrary to what some may believe, it was neither a luxurious nor an expensive journey. This adventure involved numerous hardships, including facing 10-meter waves.”
Difficult Travel Conditions
He continued: “We were on a ship and endured tough conditions while wearing special travel gear. Even for eating, we had to use anti-nausea patches. This trip was taken during Nowruz holidays, when the parliament was not in session, and it was entirely self-funded. Furthermore, throughout the trip, I remained in phone contact with Mr. Pezeshkian. He told me that there was significant media pressure, but it seemed that most of it was a media atmosphere—perhaps even deliberately created by some.”
