Disruption in Dispatching Iran’s Math Olympiad Team Due to 12-Day War / One Gold, Four Silvers, and One Bronze Secured Despite Delays

According to Rokna Social Desk’s correspondent, Seyed Reza Hosseini, Head of the National Organization for the Development of Exceptional Talents (NODET), announced that recent events have disrupted the dispatch schedule for international Olympiads. He stated, “We are in the season of international Olympiads, and the recent conflict has affected some of our organization’s activities.”

Referring to the first team dispatched this year, Hosseini explained: “The first team we sent was the mathematics Olympiad team. Initially, they were dispatched to the international camp in China. However, due to the outbreak of war and flight cancellations, the students arrived a week late—on June 26th—instead of the planned June 20th.”

Despite this delay, Iran’s national math Olympiad team delivered a remarkable performance. As Hosseini noted, “They earned one gold medal, four silver medals, and one bronze medal, placing second among the 30 countries present at the camp.”

Additionally, in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)—recognized as the most prestigious and widely attended scientific Olympiad globally—Iran ranked twelfth out of 110 participating countries.
