Video Interview with the Brother of Elahe Hossein-Nejad's Killer / “Forgive Him for My 80% Disability”

According to Rokna, during the first court hearing of the Elahe Hossein-Nejad case held at the Tehran Criminal Court, the killer’s brother made a statement regarding the premeditated murder committed by his sibling: “I am the brother of Bahman Farzaneh and I have an 80% disability. Together with my 80-year-old mother, who is unable to walk, we have come to Tehran to meet with the family of the late Elahe Hossein-Nejad and ask for forgiveness on behalf of our family.”

With visible emotion, he continued: “We are deeply saddened. God is our witness—so much so that we cannot even open Instagram. Our family is truly grieving. We are here to say that Bahman made a mistake, he was wrong, and he regrets it deeply. I beg you, for my sake with my 80% disability, and for the sake of my frail mother, please forgive us. We are also suffering and struggling; we have been living on the streets for the past ten days just to have the chance to apologize to Elahe’s family.”

He concluded by saying, “We came to say may God grant them patience and may Elahe rest in peace. We are here only to say that Bahman made a mistake and will never repeat it. We ask the grieving family to forgive us. We are human too, we share in your pain, and we have come only to apologize.”
