Iran Submits Proposal to U.S. as Practical Test of Washington’s Seriousness

The proposal was conveyed to the U.S. side through Badr Al-Busaidi, the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is serving as the mediator of the talks. The source did not provide details on the content of the proposal to the IRNA correspondent.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, arrived in Geneva on Wednesday evening at the head of a diplomatic delegation to participate in the third round of nuclear talks. A few hours later, he met with his Omani counterpart in a meeting that lasted approximately an hour and a half, during which Iran’s key elements for a potential agreement on sanctions relief and nuclear issues were conveyed.

According to the announced schedule, the nuclear negotiations are set to take place today (Thursday) under Omani mediation. Previously, some media outlets have presented narratives regarding the potential terms of a U.S.-Iran agreement; however, according to IRNA’s correspondent on site, these reports are unreliable and represent mere media speculation. Some of these speculations have clearly been produced and disseminated by circles affiliated with the Israeli regime or U.S. war hawks with the aim of influencing American policymakers.

What is clear is that Iran remains steadfast in its principled position: it is committed to refraining from any effort to acquire nuclear weapons, maintaining the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, and simultaneously demanding the lifting of economic and financial sanctions against the country.

Araghchi has previously emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a responsible nation, is participating in the negotiations with maximum insight, courage, and seriousness to resolve an unnecessary crisis regarding the country’s nuclear issue. If the U.S. side demonstrates political readiness and seriousness to achieve a fair and just outcome, reaching an understanding will be within reach.
