U.S. Senator: Trump Is a Liar and a Corrupt Dictator
Rokna Political Desk: Alex Padilla, a Democratic U.S. senator, described Donald Trump as a liar and compared him to corrupt dictators following the President’s annual address to Congress.
According to Rokna, the German newspaper Die Welt wrote: After Trump was praised for his policies during his annual speech to Congress, Democrats launched sharp attacks against him. They also stated that they are concerned about the integrity of the upcoming elections.
Padilla, a senator from the Democratic Party, said: “We just heard Donald Trump do what he does best—lie.”
The California senator, speaking in Spanish, added that Trump employs tactics “that we have seen in other countries under the rule of corrupt dictators.”
He first criticized Trump over his controversial immigration policies and then accused armed and masked federal agents of “intimidating and targeting people because of the color of their skin or for speaking Spanish, including legal immigrants and citizens,” referring to the controversial operations of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Padilla added that this chaos is the product of the dangerous selfishness of one individual—“Donald Trump.”
He also accused Trump of attempting to manipulate the upcoming midterm elections.
The midterm elections, scheduled for November (Aban–Azar 1405), will determine the composition of the House of Representatives and nearly one-third of the seats in the Senate.
Die Welt wrote that Trump is currently seeking to pass a new election law, legislation that Democrats strongly oppose. At present, the conduct of elections is largely regulated by individual states. The President of the United States also promoted this bill during his annual State of the Union address before both chambers of Congress.
It is noteworthy that Donald Trump began his speech before Congress on Tuesday night local time as Washington faces political tensions, declining approval ratings for the President, and a boycott of the ceremony by a number of Democrats.
