Video: European Council President Supports Ukraine’s EU Membership

Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, has expressed support for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and called for the swift initiation of the country’s membership process.

Costa stated that he wishes for negotiations and formal membership steps for Ukraine to proceed “in the shortest time possible,” emphasizing that Ukraine’s future is defined within the framework of the European Union.

These remarks come as the EU membership process involves technical, legal, and extensive reforms in economic, judicial, and governance areas, typically taking several years to complete. Nevertheless, European officials continue to stress their political and structural support for Kyiv.
