Witkoff: Iran May Be Just One Week Away from Obtaining Nuclear Bomb-Making Material
Rokna Political Desk: Steve Witkoff, Special Envoy of US President Donald Trump, said: “This morning, Trump asked me about Iran’s red lines. I do not want to use the word ‘disappointed,’ but the point is that he knows he has many alternatives at his disposal.”
According to Rokna, Witkoff told Fox News: “Trump is surprised that they (the Iranians) have not yet surrendered. Why, under this level of pressure and with the scale of naval power and fleet capability we have deployed there, have they not come to us and said: ‘We acknowledge that we do not want a nuclear weapon, so this is what we are prepared to do.’”
The US special envoy added: “Bringing them to that point [of surrender] is extremely difficult.”
Witkoff further stated: “The Iranians say their nuclear program is peaceful, but they have enriched far beyond what is necessary and may be just one week away from obtaining bomb-making material at an industrial level.”
According to Al Arabiya, these developments come as Trump has recently ordered a broad reinforcement of US forces in the Middle East and announced readiness for a potential airstrike against Iran, which could continue for several weeks.
Meanwhile, a senior White House official told Reuters that despite Trump’s escalatory rhetoric toward Tehran, there is still no “unified support” within his administration for pursuing any military strike.
