Witkoff: Bringing Iran to the Point of Surrender Is Extremely Difficult / Trump Surprised That Iranians Have Not Surrendered

Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, said in an interview with Fox News: “President Trump asked me this morning about Iran’s red lines. He said — I don’t want to use the word disappointed — but the point is that he knows he has many alternatives at his disposal.

“Trump is surprised as to why they have not yet surrendered. Why, under this level of pressure and with the scale of naval power and fleet capability that we have deployed there, have they not come to us and said: ‘We acknowledge that we do not want a nuclear weapon, so this is what we are prepared to do.’ Nevertheless, bringing them to that point [of surrender] is extremely difficult.”

The Iranians say their nuclear program is peaceful, but they have enriched far beyond what is necessary and may be one week away from obtaining bomb-making material at an industrial level.
