Syria Handed Over 21 Iranian ISIS Members!

According to Rokna, based on statistics from the Iraqi Ministry of Justice, among the ISIS prisoners who were recently transferred from a prison in northern Syria to a prison in Iraq, it is said that there are 21 Iranians accused of membership in ISIS.

Under this program, mediated by the United States government, more than 5,000 prisoners accused of membership in ISIS were transferred from Syria to Iraq.

The Iraqi Ministry of Justice has stated that it will return non-Iraqi prisoners to their respective countries; however, if those countries do not accept them, they will be tried in Iraq.

No details have yet been released regarding these 21 Iranians accused of membership in ISIS. It is not clear which provinces or cities of Iran they belong to, nor their ages or identities.

These individuals, along with other prisoners accused of membership in ISIS, have been transferred to the large al-Karkh prison in Baghdad.

It is claimed that these Iranian suspects accused of membership and activity in ISIS were being held in prisons administered by the Syrian Kurds. Following the withdrawal of Kurdish forces and the advance of Syrian government forces in recent weeks, and in coordination with the United States, these individuals were transferred from Syria to Iraq.

No reaction has yet been issued by the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad or by the Iranian government regarding this matter.

It is not yet clear whether the Iranian government will accept these Iranian citizens so that they can be imprisoned and tried in Iran, or whether they will remain in Iraq and be tried there.

The list also includes 271 Iraqi prisoners, 3,245 Syrian prisoners, 51 prisoners from Saudi Arabia, 24 from Afghanistan, 160 from Turkey, 131 from Russia, and 27 from Germany.

Previously, some reports had also indicated the activity of a number of Iranian citizens among ISIS members.
