Trump Eyes Military Moves on Colombia and Cuba After Venezuela

According to Rokna, citing The Guardian, U.S. President Donald Trump made remarks threatening other countries, claiming that Cuba is on the brink of collapse.

Having recently led aggressive operations against Venezuela, Trump told reporters: “Cuba is ready to collapse. It seems that Cuba is ready to collapse.”

However, Trump expressed hesitation about taking direct action against Cuba, adding: “I think it will collapse. I don’t think any action is needed.”

Military plans in Colombia similar to Venezuela

Trump also mentioned that he is considering operations against the President of Colombia, accusing him of cocaine production.

The U.S. president, who has previously accused Colombian President Gustavo Petro of involvement in cocaine production, did not rule out action against him.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said: “Colombia is also very sick, run by a sick man who likes to produce cocaine and sell it to the United States, and he will not be doing this for long. Let me tell you. He has cocaine production facilities.”

Trump added that the idea of military operations in Colombia, similar to Venezuela, “looks very good.”

Trump Calls Venezuela a “Dead Country”

While Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is in U.S. custody in New York, Trump described Venezuela as a “dead country” and said the United States must restore it to life.

He told reporters: “Venezuela is currently a dead country. We have to bring it back.”

Trump also claimed that the United States is now effectively running Venezuela.

Following Maduro’s capture, the U.S. president said the United States is now in charge of Venezuela and that there is no need to ask him about it.

Responding to a question about who is currently running Venezuela, Trump said: “Don’t ask me who is in charge because I will give you an answer, and it will be very controversial: we are in charge.”

Trump on the Possibility of Elections in Venezuela

Donald Trump also addressed the possibility of elections in Venezuela, telling the New York Post that the country must first be governed with law and order.

Regarding elections following the capture of Maduro by U.S. forces, he said: “We must run the country with law and order. We must manage a country where we can benefit from its economy—its valuable oil and other resources.”

He added that holding elections in Venezuela, given the country’s alleged economic collapse, is a secondary matter. Trump said: “This country is literally ready—turned into a third-world country that is ready to fail.”

He also noted that apparently opposition candidates do not yet have sufficient support to win. Trump claims elections in Venezuela will be held at the appropriate time, reiterating that the country is bankrupt and lacks funds.

Trump Claims Maduro Surrendered Immediately

The U.S. president also claimed that Nicolás Maduro “immediately” surrendered to U.S. forces at the time of his capture.

Trump told reporters: “Maduro immediately surrendered, raised his hands, surrendered, and did the right thing.”

He also said that some U.S. soldiers injured during the operation in Venezuela “are in good condition.”

Describing the operation to capture Maduro as extremely violent, Trump said: “We were very effective, and this operation was very fast and violent. Very violent, but we were very effective.”

Venezuela Operation Has No Impact on China

Trump also believes that his actions in Venezuela will not affect relations with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, even as the international community condemned his aggressiveness and opportunism as violations of the sovereignty of an independent country and international norms.

When asked whether Maduro’s capture by U.S. forces would affect relations with Xi, Trump said: “I don’t think so. I have a very good relationship. We have the power to impose tariffs, and he has other powers over us.”

U.S. Military Presence in Venezuela

Trump also addressed whether U.S. forces would remain in Venezuela, saying: “It depends on what happens. Also, it depends a little on the new government, if you want to call it that.”

He claimed that U.S. oil companies are eager to operate in Venezuela and invest in the country’s infrastructure.

He told reporters: “Large investments will be made by oil companies [in Venezuela] to restore infrastructure. The oil companies are ready to go. They are going to go.”

Earlier reports said that Trump had informed American oil companies that if they want to recover their losses from Venezuela, they must first invest billions of dollars there.

Russia and Ukraine Will Eventually Reach an Agreement

The U.S. president also referred to developments in the Ukraine war, stating he is confident that Russia and Ukraine will “eventually” reach an agreement.

He said, recalling his prior promise to resolve the Ukraine issue within 100 days during his previous term: “I think we will eventually reach an agreement. Hopefully, it won’t be too far off. I have not set a deadline for resolving the Ukraine conflict.”

European Union and Strategic Interests in Greenland

Trump also claimed that apparently the European Union needs Greenland under U.S. control for national security purposes.

He told reporters: “From a national security standpoint, we need Greenland, and the European Union needs us to have it.”

He repeated claims that Chinese and Russian ships have apparently surrounded the Danish island.

However, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen issued a strong statement urging the U.S. to end what she called “threats against one of America’s closest allies.” The autonomous territory, part of the Kingdom of Denmark, has increasingly attracted U.S. attention in recent years due to its geographic location and natural resources.

Following the U.S. aggression against Venezuela, figures close to Trump’s MAGA movement openly welcomed the Venezuela operation and turned their attention to the Danish territory of Greenland.

According to The Guardian, shortly after the U.S. operation in Venezuela, far-right American podcaster Katy Miller posted a provocative image of Greenland covered with the U.S. flag, writing in the post description: “Coming soon.”

Katy Miller is the wife of Stephen Miller, described as a powerful deputy to Trump in policy-making. The move sparked immediate and strong reactions in Denmark and heightened concerns about Trump’s plans for Greenland.
