Grossi: Highly Enriched Uranium Still Accessible to Iran

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said on Monday that the UN nuclear watchdog is facing a “serious lack of information” regarding the Iranian facilities targeted during the United States’ aggressive attack.

According to Rokna, citing RIA Novosti, Grossi said: “And from a non-proliferation point of view, this is very negative, because even if these facilities have been severely damaged, there is a clear understanding that most of Iran’s highly enriched uranium is still in the country. This is extremely important from a non-proliferation perspective.”

The Pentagon had previously claimed that the United States’ aggressive military action against Iran in June resulted in the complete destruction of three key Iranian nuclear sites in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, and led to a significant rollback of Iran’s capabilities in this field.

US President Donald Trump had also stated that following the recent US attacks, it would take years for Iran to resume its nuclear program.

Meanwhile, officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while pointing out that the US bombing caused serious damage to the country’s civilian nuclear facilities, have stressed that Tehran intends to continue developing its peaceful nuclear energy program.
