Hamas Refuses Disarmament; Israeli Minister’s Remarks
Rokna Political Desk: Hamas has stated that it will not disarm as long as Israeli occupation continues. Meanwhile, Israel, despite failing to fulfill its ceasefire commitments, continues to pressure for the disarmament of Palestinian resistance.
Israel, which has not honored its obligations under the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, is brazenly pursuing the disarmament of Hamas.
According to Rokna, Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar claimed on Sunday that the reconstruction of Gaza and building a better future would only be possible if Hamas disarms. He asserted that Hamas will never lay down its weapons, “but rather seeks to consolidate its control in Gaza. We will not accept this.”
Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also recently stated that the Gaza war is not yet over and that the real test lies in implementing the agreements reached. Despite Israel’s failure to comply with its obligations under the Gaza agreement, Smotrich claimed that Gaza’s reconstruction would not be allowed until Hamas is completely disarmed.
Without mentioning Israel’s repeated violations of the Gaza ceasefire, he said that the disarmament and dismantling of Hamas is a fundamental condition for Gaza’s reconstruction, and any attempt to bypass this requirement is unacceptable. Hamas has repeatedly emphasized that it will not surrender its weapons as long as the occupation continues and has fulfilled all its commitments under the Gaza agreement.
