The International Criminal Court Rejects Tel Aviv’s Appeal Request

According to Rokna, citing the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, in September 2024 the Israeli regime had asked the Pre-Trial Chamber of the Court to compel the Office of the Prosecutor to issue a new notification within the framework of this case—an action intended either to suspend the investigative process or to demonstrate that domestic investigations were being conducted by the Israeli regime. However, the Pre-Trial Chamber rejected this request in November 2024, after which the Israeli regime filed an appeal with the Appeals Chamber.

The ruling of the Appeals Chamber states: “In this case, the rejection of Israel’s appeal and the confirmation of the contested decision are appropriate.”

Under this ruling, the International Criminal Court will continue its investigations in this case.

The Court has been examining crimes committed in Palestine since 2014 and, in accordance with its mandate, continues to collect information related to new crimes. The institution had previously announced that its mandate is permanent and includes crimes committed since the escalation of hostilities from 7 October 2023 onward.
