Details of the Meeting Between U.S. and Ukrainian Representatives in Berlin
Rokna Political Desk: U.S. and Ukrainian representatives are set to meet in Berlin to discuss ceasefire negotiations; the appointment of Steve Witkoff as the U.S. special envoy signals Washington’s positive assessment of the peace efforts.
The American and Ukrainian delegations will meet tonight in Berlin to discuss ceasefire negotiations in Ukraine, while European leaders are scheduled to consult with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the country on Monday.
According to Rokna, citing Reuters, a U.S. official stated that Steve Witkoff, special envoy of Donald Trump, along with his son-in-law Jared Kushner, will travel to Germany for talks with Ukrainian and European officials.
The selection of Witkoff, who has led negotiations with Ukraine and Russia regarding the U.S. peace proposal, indicates that Washington has assessed the peace talks favorably.
The White House announced on Thursday that Trump would dispatch an official to the negotiations only if sufficient progress had been made.
A German government official stated on Saturday: “Negotiations regarding a potential ceasefire in Ukraine are underway in Berlin among foreign policy advisors, including representatives from the U.S. and Ukraine.”
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will host the Ukrainian president and European leaders on Monday.
