Zelenskyy Meets the Pope: The Holy Father’s Message on Ukraine
Rokna Political Desk: In his continued efforts to gain the support of European leaders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Pope Leo XIV at the pontiff’s summer residence in Rome.
As part of ongoing efforts to secure backing from European leaders, and amid reports that former U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine is on the verge of collapse, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Pope Leo XIV.
According to Rokna, citing The Telegraph, the President of Ukraine met the Pope today, Tuesday, at the pontiff’s summer residence, situated atop a hill in Castel Gandolfo, Rome.
Following this meeting, Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. This meeting with Italy’s leader will take place before Zelenskyy presents his perspectives on the Ukrainian peace plan to the U.S. side.

The Kyiv Independent reported that the meeting between Zelenskyy and the Pope lasted 30 minutes. After the meeting, the Vatican stated: “During the discussions, the Holy Father once again emphasized the need to continue dialogue.” The discussions also addressed the situation of prisoners of war and the urgent need to ensure the return of Ukrainian children to their families.
Pope Leo XIV, who has long advocated for “lasting peace” since assuming his position, has repeatedly expressed support for the Ukrainian people and indicated his willingness for the Vatican to serve as a venue for Ukraine’s peace negotiations.
