The Story Behind Tony Blair’s Removal from Trump’s Peace Group
Rokna Political Desk: Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, was removed from the list of candidates for membership in the U.S. President’s proposed peace delegation for Gaza due to opposition from Arab countries, citing his role in the 2003 Iraq War.
The former British Prime Minister was excluded from Trump’s proposed “peace delegation” for Gaza following protests by several Arab countries regarding his involvement in the 2003 Iraq War.
According to Rokna, citing Yedioth Ahronoth, Tony Blair has been removed from the list of candidates for membership in the peace delegation proposed by the U.S. President for Gaza.
The media reported that Arab countries, considering Blair’s role in the 2003 Iraq War, opposed his presence and excluded him from the proposed peace delegation. He is now expected to join a smaller executive committee.
When Trump announced his 20-point plan in late September for governing Gaza after the war, Blair was the only figure openly connected to this council.
At that time, the U.S. President described him as a strong candidate and expressed admiration for him.
Blair had also indicated his readiness to join the body that Trump intends to chair.
