Pentagon Announces Timeline for Activation of the “Golden Dome”

According to Rokna, General Michael Guetlein of the U.S. Space Force stated that this system will not represent the final version in its initial phase.

He added that the technical details of the project remain classified, and the Pentagon has released only limited information about it. However, U.S. officials have confirmed that the Golden Dome will be built on a network of sensors, early-warning satellites, command systems, and interceptors, including interceptors deployed in space.

The commander of the U.S. “Golden Dome” project reiterated that the air and missile defense system will achieve initial operational capability by the summer of 2028; a system designed to counter advanced ballistic missiles, hypersonic weapons, cruise missiles, drones, and even space-related threats.

Michael Guetlein said the project, launched under an executive order by Donald Trump, represents an upgraded version of previous U.S. missile defense systems and is intended to cover the entire territory of the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Guam. Estimates point to hundreds of billions of dollars in costs for this project, at a time when the future of the U.S. defense budget remains uncertain.
