Mysterious Meeting Between Israel and Qatar; New Information from Axios

The American news outlet Axios revealed that Israel and Qatar held a secret meeting with U.S. participation to restore relations.

According to Rokna, citing Axios, the American outlet reported—based on information from two informed sources—that following Israel’s failed attacks on Doha, Qatar, Israel and Qatar held a trilateral meeting in New York on Sunday with U.S. presence in order to rebuild relations.

According to the Axios report, the significance of this development lies in the fact that this secret meeting represents the highest-level encounter between Israel and Qatar since the agreement to end the war—an agreement achieved through Qatar’s key mediation.

Axios, quoting the two informed sources, further reported that the meeting was hosted by Steve Witkoff, the White House representative, and attended by the Mossad chief on behalf of Israel and a representative from Qatar.

It is worth noting that on September 9 (September 18 in the Persian calendar), Israeli fighter jets carried out an attack against Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar. Although senior Hamas leaders survived the strike, a Qatari security officer was killed. Following the attack, Qatar withdrew from its mediation efforts between Israel and Hamas, and Arab countries collectively condemned Israel, exerting pressure on the Trump administration to force Israel to bring the Gaza war to an end.
