Lufthansa Halts Shipment of Weapons to Israel
Rokna Political Desk: German airline Lufthansa has suspended the delivery of all military and security cargo to Tel Aviv, imposing a broad embargo following the escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza.
German carrier Lufthansa has halted all its military shipments to the occupied territories in response to the intensifying genocide perpetrated by the Israeli regime in Gaza.
According to Rokna, Lufthansa has imposed an embargo on all military and security cargo to and from Tel Aviv.
According to Palestinian sources, the company has attributed this decision to the United Kingdom’s export control directive and related sanctions, which now render military transport to the occupied territories “impossible” regardless of the point of origin or flight route.
Lufthansa has sent a notice to international shipping companies stating: “This embargo is being implemented with immediate effect and until further notice.”
The airline, which resumed full cargo operations to the occupied territories on August 1 and currently operates several weekly flights using Boeing 777 and Airbus A321 aircraft, emphasized that it is attempting to find “solutions” for specific types of shipments; however, under the new regulatory restrictions, it is unable to transport any military equipment.
This news comes as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Tel Aviv for his first official trip — a development signaling renewed political alignment between Berlin and Tel Aviv following the recent unveiling ceremony of the Arrow-3 missile system.
Lufthansa stated that it “fully complies with all relevant laws and regulations,” noting that the UK directive leaves no legal basis for the company to transport military goods.
