Putin’s Conditional Welcome of Trump’s Proposed Plan
Rokna Political Desk: The Russian president, in a conversation with Erdoğan, confirmed that proposals from the United States could, in principle, serve as a basis for a final and peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
The Kremlin announced that Putin, in a telephone call with Erdoğan, confirmed that the U.S. proposals regarding Ukraine could form a basis for resolving the war.
According to Rokna, the Kremlin’s press office stated today (Monday) that Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, his Turkish counterpart, agreed to intensify contacts between Russia and Turkey regarding the issue of Ukraine at various levels.
The Kremlin statement said: “An agreement was reached to intensify contacts between Russia and Turkey regarding the issue of Ukraine at various levels.”
The Russian president, in his conversation with Erdoğan, confirmed that the proposals of the United States could, in principle, serve as a basis for a final and peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
A statement from the Kremlin press office said: “Vladimir Putin noted that these proposals, in the version that we have seen... could, in principle, serve as a basis for a final and peaceful settlement [of the conflict in Ukraine].”
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also reaffirmed Turkey’s readiness to participate in all diplomatic initiatives and programs that facilitate direct communication between the parties involved in the Ukraine crisis and pave the way for lasting peace in the region.
A statement published today by the Turkish presidency indicates that Erdoğan emphasized to Putin his country’s readiness to “participate in all diplomatic initiatives and programs that facilitate direct communication between the parties [Russia and Ukraine] and pave the way for lasting peace in the region.”
The statement added that Erdoğan informed Putin that his country would continue its efforts to end the crisis between Russia and Ukraine with a just and lasting peace.
The Kremlin statement also said that Putin and Erdoğan discussed ongoing issues of bilateral cooperation, with a focus on further expanding trade and investment relations and implementing major strategic energy projects.
The Kremlin further announced that after Erdoğan’s trip to the G20 summit and his meetings with leaders of several participating countries, he shared his impressions with Putin during their telephone conversation.
