Will Trump Sit at the Negotiating Table with Maduro?

A U.S. official announced that the White House is studying the possibility of holding direct negotiations with Maduro concerning Venezuela.

According to Rokna, citing Al Jazeera, a U.S. official told the network that the White House is currently examining the possibility of direct talks with Nicolás Maduro, the president of Venezuela, regarding the situation in his country, and emphasized that U.S. President Donald Trump is open to the idea of direct negotiations with Maduro.

He stated that if direct negotiations with Maduro take place, “we will see how matters progress and will make decisions accordingly.”

Meanwhile, an official at the Pentagon told Al Jazeera that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, during his visit today to the Caribbean region, will meet with military commanders.

The official added that during his trip to the Caribbean, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will receive reports regarding military operations and preparedness.

He also noted that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will discuss the situation in the region under the command of the U.S. Southern Command with military leaders.
